A Different Pattern
Miss "N" wanted to make another decoration for the tree, today. I suggested choosing a different pattern than the one she made last time. This time, she made an ABB pattern. Notice the large, small, small, bead pattern. Another student noticed this and made an AABB pattern but changed her mind, took it apart and strung a variety of beads. The end product did not show a pattern, but she obviously had understood the idea of patterning. This demonstrates that you cannot always look at the end product to show evidence of learning.

Christmas Tree Decorations
Today the children made decorations for our class Christmas Tree. It was a great fine motor activity.
It also was a great Math activity for some students. One student told me that she was making a pattern with the beads she was stringing. This shows me that she is learning to make patterns...an important math skill. Notice the A B pattern she made, one large square bead, one small round bead all the way down the line. We discussed the pattern and it was a great introduction to patterns for some students who listened to our conversation and observed her work.
Happy Birthday to Pre K-A November Birthday Kids!

Chocolate Pudding Finger Painting Pre K - A
Pre K - A finger painted with chocolate pudding today. Two parents and a grandma came to help. Thanks for the help!
Chocolate Pudding Finger Painting
Pre K - B experienced finger painting with chocolate pudding, yesterday. Surprisingly, several students did not want to try it. Sometimes, this is due to sensory issues, or that they did not want to get dirty, or even that they were engrossed in another activity that they enjoyed. Those students that chose to finger paint REALLY enjoyed it!
Thank you to the parents who came to help. And a special thank you to Mr. P who saw that we were having trouble with our little toilet. He offered to help and fixed the problem right away! We really appreciate it!

Pre K Literacy
Reading to your children and discussing books is one of the most important things you can do to ensure your child's success in school. We enjoy several books everyday at school. Some of our books have props to go along with them. The children enjoy retelling the stories.

We Have Fish!
Mrs. W brought a surprise to school, today....FISH! The leader of Pre K A fed the fish and named one "Joey". Tomorrow, Pre K B will feed the fish again, and think of a name for the other fish.
