The children really got into making Easter Baskets and Bunny masks today.  We had plenty of Easter bunnies hopping around delivering Easter Eggs!

Lego and An Easter Cross

I recently put out some new Lego for the children to play with.  They are thoroughly enjoying playing with it.  It is such a good activity for them to practice sharing and for them to develop their Fine Motor Skills and their creativity!

It is Lent.   Every classroom in the school has been making a Cross to hang over the classroom door.  These girls did a fine job!  They, too, used their Fine Motor Skills and Social Skills to work on this project.

Creativity in Pre K

The Art Center is always open to the kiddos to create artwork. This little boy decided he wanted to make a tiger from the craft supplies.  He organized, planned and created the craft all on his own!  What creativity!

Creativity in Our Classroom

We do not often prepare an organized craft that everyone participates in, but rather art supplies are made available for the children to create what they wish.  Children learn much more from creating something that they are truly interested in.  This week, There were some very creative creations!

    PUPPETS!

This young man worked carefully to mold a witch from plasticine.  The witch had a pointy nose and a pointy hat.  He wanted her to go to sleep, so he removed her hat and made her a pillow and a "blankie".   You can see here that she is covered up to her nose.  Her hat is off to the side.

Happy Birthday!

We celebrated a birthday in Pre K A, today.

A couple of children worked together on a new puzzle.  They are learning to work together and share.  We celebrated a job well done when they completed it with only a little assistance from adults.

The art centre is becoming more popular.  Children are learning to use their own creativity to work on projects.  It may not look like a "polished" piece of art, but these self made projects are something to be proud of!  When children make these works of art, they are using thinking skills, creativity, as well as practising fine motor skills.  Parents should be very impressed when their child brings home these treasures and  they deserve to be displayed in a place of honour. (Perhaps on the kitchen fridge or a wall in the child's bedroom)

Balloon Painting

We painted with Shaving Cream mixed with paint and used balloons to dab the paint.  It smelled wonderful, and made a textured painting.

Jesus Died on the Cross

One of our students created a piece of Art to describe the true meaning of Easter.  It is hanging in the hallway along with other unique expressions of student artwork.  Take time to take a look.  You may be surprised at the students' abilities.

Making Cakes

The Art Center has been a bee hive of activity for the past couple of days.

I brought some white cotton batting from home.  We had no use for it at home, so I brought it to school and decided to see what the children would do with it.  One little girl decided it was perfect for making a "cake".  She worked hard at "icing" her cake by spreading glue on the batting and then decorating her cake with a variety of craft materials.  Her enthusiasm was contagious and soon, other little cake makers joined her.  This provided lots of fine motor development and language.  Self confidence increased, too, as the children felt proud of their ideas and creations.
